After performing as a drummer in many bands throughout high school, Scott found an interest in the keyboards, bass and guitar and began playing keys immeidiately in local club bands. This really changed things....a way to make a living playing!
The late 80' and early 90's were spent leading his own band "Electric City" to the top of the Tri-Sate area club scene, but reaching the top left Scott with a problem- where do you go from here? So at the hieght of their popularity (drawing thousands of people per show), Electric City was disbanded and replaced with "New Religion".
New Religion was an all original act that many have called "THE best live show...anywhere". Consisting of Scott on lead vocals, guitar and keys, his good friend (and Electric City alumni Patrick McCabe) on Keys, and a rotating slew of musicians including Tim Housman and Mario Rivera of "Blind Man's Bluff", some dancers and rappers, New Religion began working it's way up the ranks of the original club circut. It wouldn't take long before record companies were noticing.

Scott McGinley
Scott McGinley grew up a child of the 70's and 80's.Coming from a large family he drew upon the influences of not only the current music, but the music his older brothers and sisters (and even his dad) were listening to. So from an early age Scott nurtured the fond love and appreciation of many styles of music that is still one of his many assets. Coming up on as diverse sounds as James Brown, Glenn Miller, The Beatles, The beach Boys, James taylor, ELO, and Elvis, Scott showed an interest in music at a very early age, and started playing the clarinet at age 9. But it wasn't until he could convince his parents he was serious about music (by building a drumset out of food containers and playing it for them), that he would gain the support of his family and start seriously pursuing (rock) musical endevors. "...and anyway, girls don't go for clarinet players....they  go for rock musicians!"  -Scott McGinley

By 1994, New Religion was very popular in the region and Scott was ready to sign with Roberta Flack's label when he decided to take a road less traveled....very less traveled. Scott and the boys (after many late nights of debate), with manager Jeff Deutch in tow, packed up and moved to make inroads in the largest developing economy in the world...Asia.
Asia presented many new opportunities, and New Religion quickly gained popularity. They set to work immediately in releasing albums of original material, and appeared on many radio and TV shows and also opened for many international acts. As their popularity grew, their album reached #7 (beating out U2!) in Taiwan, drawing the interest of many major record companies.
One night, while playing a show in Taipei (Taiwan), there was a person in the audience that caught Scott's eye, someone he had to meet. Scott and Vicky met in December 1996, and hit it off immediately. Even though, at that time, Vicky only knew about 5 english phrases, they completely understood each other, and knew they were destined to be together.
Unfortunately, at the same time, Scott signed a record deal with Terry Ellis (former owner of CHYSALIS [Huey Lewis, Pat Benatar, Blondie, Billy Idol, Jethro Tull]), which (temporarily) took Scott and Vicky away from each other.
Signing the record deal came with a condition....most of the band had to go. Since things were feeling stagnent in New Religion anyway, the decision was made that Scott (and keyboardist Patrick) would go it alone, onto the next project.
The album was recorded in LA with legendary record producer Keith Olsen (Fleetwood Mac, Pat Benatar, Foriegner, Santana, Rick Springfield, Whitesnake, Heart). Studio musicians were used in place of a band. Jason Scheff (Chicago) on bass and back ups, Alex Liggertwood (Santana) on back ups, Tim peirce (Alanis Morrisette, Rick Springfield, Roger Waters) on guitars, and David Ravin (Amy Grant)on drums, along with Scott and Pat had a great time recording the album that came to be known as BLISS.
Finding musicians that could play the music, sing, look the part, and go on tour indefinitely, turned out to be more of a challenge. The search was on, nation-wide, with out many leads. It wasn't until the record company threatened to hire actors to play the rest of the band that a decision was reached. Any musician would be better than an actor, right? Maybe not. Three musicians were settled on from Berkely School of music, but soon problems began. It was too late to make changes, though, videos were shot, and big money was spent, so the BLISS show went on.
After touring many countries including China, Singapore, Malaysia, Taiwan, Thailand, Indonesia, Philappines and India, 4 top ten singles, 3 top ten videos and stadium concerts of 15-30,000 people. The record company closed down and, to the bitter sweet delight of Scott and Patrick, BLISS was over...... it was time for a new project.
The Insiders was originally Patricks band. Pat and Scott would do gigs around the area between tours to make a little extra money. Returning from the tour put them in the position to find work, so the best idea seemed to be to resurect THE INSIDERS. Even though both were exhausted from years of touring, they started playing right away. Being at home also gave Scott a chance to be with Vicky again, so she flew to America and has been here ever since.

After 2 successful years together as THE INSIDERS, Patrick finally decided to take a break from the club scene and pursue a teaching and recording career. (Patrick and Scott are still close friends today). As Patrick exited THE INSIDERS Vicky was ready to step in without missing a beat. The amazing part being, she had never played or sang before and had only been learning english for a couple years! (see the full story on Vicky's bio)
THE INSIDERS' new line up with Scott and Vicky are now considered one of the areas top duos. With a great on stage chemistry, and great musicianship, they have been wowing crowds for more than 2 years, now. As always, Scott isn't content to do just one thing, so together with Vicky they have released an album of original material that has gotten positive reviews across the country and has been picked up by many independent radio stations. While still playing out full time and having just finished a record breaking summer, they are now in the process of recording a follow-up and putting together a live band to play some of the albums' material live.
Judging from the past, keep your eyes on Scott and Vicky because THE INSIDERS are just getting started!
